The Magic of a Cup of Coffee

What is Caffeine?

The magic of a cup of coffee is based on the caffeine.  Coffee is the most consumed drink in the world.  More than water.  Regardless of the gigantic amounts of caffeine, we swim in it every day, we all like it.  WbMD defines caffeine as a crystalline compound found in coffee, tea, and cocoa.  It affects your brain and body and makes you more active.

Coffee Floating Cloud

The aroma of the coffee is enchanting and warm.  Most of the time it creates an ambiance that makes you feel comfortable.

A coffee bar is a must.  It does not matter if the coffee place is at home or at the mall.  If you own a Keurig, you are almost in Heaven.  The Keurig machine makes life easier and convenient for the coffee drinker.

Also, the coffee tastes great.  Coffee drinkers enter a coffee floating cloud. In that cloud, people are chatting and laughing.  Other groups are studying, working or talking on their cellulars.

It is a place to make new friendships or strengthen the ones we already have.  The ground is fertile to do apostolate and talk about God.  That cup of coffee could make us think or meditate better.

Sometimes, crowds visit the coffee bar just to dream.  The aroma and chatting noises are spectacular.  When coffee is gone and conversations over, funnily we leave smelling like the espresso machine.

However, we are ready to face up our daily struggles with a huge smile.  The time we had spent with our new friends and acquaintances is priceless.

Comfort Factor

The magical aroma of coffee comes with a sense of comfort.  Actors and actresses hold a cup of coffee most of the time.  The producers are aware of the impact done to the audience.

Businesses have a coffee machine in all their sites.  For example, there is no better feeling than to get a cup of coffee while waiting for the car to be fixed.  People drink a cup of coffee while driving their cars.

Instead of inviting a friend to get a drink, the invitation is to have a cup of coffee.

Sometimes, the music played in the background is relaxing and attractive.  The sound of pianos and violins make the coffee an adventure. It makes you feel transported.

Psychological Factor

There is a psychological factor seeing a person holding a cup of coffee.  It is proven.  Luckily, there is nothing wrong with having one of them.

It is absolutely contagious!  If you see somebody drinking coffee, you want coffee too.  In the coffee bar, the subconscious gets impacted.

Unconsciously, you will feel welcomed.  It is the small town effect. For some people, it is the feeling of belonging.  The Barista knows your name, and it makes you feel like home.

Therefore, coffee drinkers feel important.  Ordering a coffee sometimes could be traumatic. Selecting from the trillions of syrups and kind of milk freeze our brains.

It is magical.  Waiting lines are eternally long, but who cares.  We will wait zillions of hours just to get our coffee.

Coffee in Other Countries

There is a slag that says, a glass of wine would resolve all your problems.  Not exactly!

People and children cannot drink wine all day long.  Children cannot buy or get wine without grave consequences.

Contrary to wine, coffee can be obtained anytime at any age.  The reality is that people like to meet and drink a cup of coffee.  That is why I call it the magic of the cup of coffee.

A lot of people make their own coffee.  In countries like my Puerto Rico, coffee is a big deal.  On the Island, coffee is very strong. The cup is small.  Puertoricans drink coffee all day long.  They take advantage of this opportunity to talk with each other.  Sometimes for a few minutes or hours.

It is similar here in my beloved continental United States.  Stop by WAWA or Starbucks to get coffee.  The small town effect is in action. It is homey.

Mornings are uplifting, and you meet a lot of people.  The cup sizes are humongous, I have to say.

Listen to what Mr. Chandler Graf, a barista at Beltway Coffee in Abilene, has to say about his deep passion and appreciation for the integration of science in the art of brewing coffee.

Mr. Graf shares the science behind choosing the best bag of coffee at the grocery store, making great coffee at home, and even understanding what you’re really ordering the next time you go out for coffee.

Is it Healthy?

The FDA has established that drinking 400 milligrams (mg) of caffeine a day is safe.  This is a cup or two.

People all over the world drink tons of coffee.  It is said caffeine in large quantities could damage your health.  However, the data to back this up is inconclusive.

What do you think?  Are you a coffee drinker?  If so, are you afraid of the health issues?  Please, share your thoughts with my audience, and me.
